Class 2 have had an exciting term exploring The Secret Garden. In Design and Technology, we became salad experts- tasting root vegetables, learning why they keep us healthy, and making our very own potato salad.

Road Safety Week took us out around camp, where we practised crossing roads safely. In art, Vincent van Gogh inspired us to paint bright, beautiful sunflowers using paint, oil pastels, and even forks.

English lessons were full of imagination as we created minibeast riddles and uncovered amazing facts about tiny creatures. We followed the journey of a butterfly’s life cycle, read lots of stories, and wrote instructions linked to Peter
Rabbit.

Science helped us explore animals, humans, and plants, discovering what living things need to grow and survive. Our trip to Belton House was a highlight—we searched for nature clues, tackled the maze, and played together in the park.

We have also enjoyed celebrating 100 years of Tedder, dressing up in different costumes from over the decades.

During the spring term, Class 2’s topic was Land Ahoy! We learned all about pirates and famous explorers. In English, we studied The Pirates Next Door and wrote persuasive letters to the Local Council, arguing either for the pirates to stay or for them to leave.
We also enjoyed the story Pirates Love Underpants and created our own versions, writing from the perspective of the pirate captain. We celebrated World Book Day too, with children from Class 4 joining us to share stories.

As part of British Science Week, the theme Curiosity: What’s Your Question? inspired us to explore the world by asking questions and seeking answers. Class 2 began by learning about ecosystems and how each part plays an important role. We discussed what happens when one part is removed and how it affects the rest. We also designed and built paper boats, testing which design could carry the largest “crew” of marbles. We floated our boats to see how well they worked and compared which designs were
the most successful.

In Design and Technology, we explored the story Paddy’s Lunchbox and then designed and created our own lunchboxes to solve the problems in the story. In Art, we experimented with tie-dye to make our own pirate flags. We looked at different flag symbols, cut them from felt, and attached them using a running stitch.

This term, we also visited the church, where Padre Dawn shared the Easter story using picture and emotion cards to help us understand. We enjoyed a fantastic trip to Lincoln Zoo as well. We saw lots of amazing animals and learned many interesting facts. We
watched the penguins being fed, walked through the lemur enclosure, and even had time to play in the park. It was a wonderful day filled with fun and discovery.
