Welcome to Class 3
Autumn Term 2026
In the Autumn term, our topic will be Through the Ages. We will be learning all about the changes between the Stone Age to the Bronze Age to the Iron Age. In English, we will be reading the classic Stig of the Dump written by Clive King. We will be writing stories about what would happen if we were to become a cave man for the day as well as what we’d do if we had a cave man best friend! In maths, we will be learning about place value, addition and subtraction followed by multiplication.

Summer Term Overview
WOW – what a fantastic end to a wonderful year! We have had lots of exciting events happen this term.
We enjoyed having some visitors in to discuss keeping the planet clean and we created fun fish puppets using recycled materials. We also enjoyed our visit for our Viking topic. We were able to dress up in all the Viking equipment and discuss battle tactics! In DT, we learnt all about how many different fruits and herbs can be grown in our country. We even had a go at planting our own herbs!
Well done Class 3. You have all been super stars! Have a wonderful Summer holidays!
Summer Term 2026
In the Summer Term, the children will be learning all about the Anglo Saxon and Viking invasion. The children will also be reading How to Train your Dragon by Cressida Cowell and create their own dragon. The children will have to use their excellent descriptive language to ensure our safety with their dragons.
In Maths, the children will be learning all about time and shapes. The Year 3s will also be learning more about fractions whilst the Year 4s focus on their Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) which they have worked so hard for.
It is a very exciting term full of adventure and creativity, it will be a brilliant end to a wonderful year!
Spring Term Overview
Wow! What a wonderful Spring Term!
The children have had a fabulous term full of fab experiences and learning opportunities. The children settled in very well after Christmas and had a fabulous time working on their artwork inspired by Beatrix Milhazes. The children learnt how to create a collage using lots of material and then printed some lovely shapes onto them.
After half term, the children had a brilliant time working on their cycling skills at Bike Ability. They all worked very hard and showed excellent resilience in the rain! We also went to Hartsholme Park this term, where the children discovered how to follow instructions on a map and learnt lots of wonderful pieces of information about the history of the park.
World Book Day was definitely a highlight of the term! The children loved getting dressed up as their favourite characters and enjoyed sharing their favourite stories with the children in Class 1.
Class 3 have had a brilliant term, well done!
Spring 2026
During Spring term, we will be learning about The Americas. We will be using our geographical skills to identify population differences across America as well as use a compass to navigate our journey.
In English, we will be reading the American Classic Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White and explore the topics of friendship and compassion.
In Maths, we will be focusing on multiplication skills as well as exploring length, perimeter and fractions. Year 3 will also have a topic on mass and capacity whilst Year 4 explore decimals.

Autumn Term Overview
This term the children have had lots of exciting experiences. The children have explored what happens to water in the different states of matter as well as how quickly ice can melt! The children also enjoyed creating a marble run and learning about the different ways you can connect tubes – also racing each other using marbles. It has been a very full term full of writing, construction and hard work. What a fantastic start to the 2025-2026 school year!
Autumn Term 2025
During Autumn term, we will be learning about Ancient Egypt. We will be using our archaeological techniques to discover how people lived and how pharaohs ruled over the desert.
In English, we will be reading The Ancient Egypt Sleepover by Stephen Davies and discover what would truly happen if you won a sleepover at a museum with lots of fascinating and lively artefacts.
Summer Term 2025
During the Summer term, we will be learning all about Roman Britain and what impact they had on us.
We will be reading Vita and the Gladiator by Ally Sherrick – a story full of adventure during Roman Londinium. We will be completing some writing based on the book including a discussion text surrounding the difficult decisions Vita must made during the story.

Spring Term 2025
During Spring term, we will be learning about Rivers and Mountains. We will be using various different sources to research them all over the world. We will also be exploring these fantastic features from the UK too.
In English, we will be reading The Abominables by Eva Ibbotson and completing many genres of writing such as a setting description showing all the beautiful sights you see from the top of a mountain.
Autumn Term 2024
During Autumn term, we will be learning about the Second World War. We will be using various different sources to research this period in British history. We will learn what Lincolnshire’s role was during wartime Britain as well as looking at the part played by RAF Digby.
In English, we will be reading The Lion and The Unicorn, by Shirley Hughes and completing many genres of writing such as a narrative about an evacuee’s journey as well as a poem about the main character’s time in his new home.
Spring Term
This term, our topic is Extreme Earth. We will learn about the destructive powers of nature, from volcanoes and earthquakes to tsunamis and tornadoes. Through discussions and practical tasks, we will learn how and why these natural phenomena occur, and the ways in which they affect people and the environment.
In English, our learning will be linked to ‘Escape from Pompeii’ by Christina Balit. We’ll follow Tranio and Livia as they hide on a boat and witness one of the most terrifying moments in recorded history - the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and the destruction of their beloved city, Pompeii.
