Welcome to Class 4
Autumn 2026
During the Autumn Term, our topic is ‘Through the Ages’.
This term in history, we will be learning about how the Stone Age to Bronze Age period impacted on life in Britain. We will learn how early man survived in a harsh environment, why Skara Brae was important for understanding life in the Stone Age, how copper mining was crucial to the Bronze Age and why Stonehenge was built. The children will also learn about why Iron Age people developed hillforts and how important Druids were in Iron Age Britain.
In English, we will be reading Cosmic by Frank Cottrell Boyce, linked to our learning in science.
Summer Term 2026
This term, our topic is The Anglo Saxons and Vikings. We will be picking up the story of British Hisitory after the Romans left in 410AD and learning about the first Anglo Saxons settlers. We will learn about life in this period and how the Anglo Saxon kingsoms developed. Then we will learn about the Viking raids and the long struggle to control England.
Spring Term 2026
This term in geography, we will be learning about the vast continents of North and South America and their human and physical features.
In English, our main text will be the American classic Holes by Louis Sachar. We will be reading this gripping novel and completing lots of writing activities linked to the book.
In maths, Y5 will be learning about multiplication and division, fractions, decimals and percentages. Year 6 will be learning about ratio, algebra and fractions, decimals and percentages.
We’re looking forward to another exiting and busy term.
Autumn Term 2025
Welcome to our new topic ‘Ancient Egypt’. We will be learning all about the achievements of this fascinating ancient civilisation. Throughout the autumn term, we will discover where the ancient Egyptians lived, who Tutankhamun was and how mummies were made. We will also learn about how the Egyptians used hieroglyphs to communicate and will compare the powers of different gods.
Our class book will be ‘Secrets of a Sun King’ by Emma Carroll.
PGL Residential
In October, we had an amazing time at Caythorpe Court during our week long residential. We showed amazing resilience, cooperation and determination to challenge ourselves on all the activities.
Bikeability
We also took part in Bikeability training. We practised our skills on the playground and then explored the roads around camp.
Sculptures inspired by Antony Gormley
We enjoyed researching Antony Gormley and then creating our own sculptures.
Visit to Digby Museum
We enjoyed our visit to the Lima Sector Operations Museum to learn more about the importance of remembrance.
Summer Term 2025
This term, our topic is ‘The Romans’. We will be learning about the incredible impact that the Roman empire had on life in Britain.
Spring Term 2025
This term, our topic is ‘Rivers and Mountains’. We will be learning about the geography of the United Kingdom with a particular focus on the main rivers and mountains in each region.
In English, our learning will be linked to Running on the Roof of the World by Jess Butterworth.

Autumn Term
This term, our topic is the Second World War. We will be using a wide range of sources to learn about this key period in British history, before finding out about Lincolnshire’s important wartime role and the part played by RAF Digby in the war effort.
In English, we will be reading Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll and completing lots of writing based on the book and our topic.
Summer Term
This term our topic is the Victorians.
In history, we will be extending our knowledge beyond 1066 and discovering why the Victorian age was such a turning point in British history. We will discover some of the dramatic changes, innovations and inventions of this remarkable period.
In English, our learning will be linked to Street Child by Berlie Doherty which follows the adventures of Jim, a poor child in Victorian London.

This term, our topic is Extreme Earth. We will be learning all about Earthquakes and Volcanoes and the impact of natural disasters around the world. We are looking forward to our visit to Magna Science Adventure Centre to support our learning.
In English we will be studying the novel Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo.

Autumn Term
This term, our topic is the Ancient Maya. We will be exploring this fascinating Central American civilisation and finding out all about their unique culture and way of life.
In English, our learning will be linked to Middleworld by J&P Voelkel. We’ll follow the adventures of Max Murphy and his Maya friend Lola as they travel through the Middleworld on a mission to rescue Max’s parents
